Question How Do You Reset the Oil Change Service Light on 2003 4Runner?

I understand the new 2003 4runner has a service light at 5000 miles to let you know you need to change the oil. How can you reset this light if youwant to change the oil yourself?

I read a post where a member said after changing the oil the light went out, maybe their is a sensor in the engine that can determine how dirty the oil is

page 121 of the owners manual

1. Turn the ignition key to the "OFF" position with the odometer reading shown.

2. Turn the ignition key to "ON" position while holding down the trip meter reset button.

Hold down the button until the light goes off. Before the light goes off, it illuminates for 3 seconds, flashes for 2 and illuminates for 1 second.

If the system fails to reset, the light will remain flashing.
