Default X-REAS: is it worth it?

I am thinking of buying a V8 4runner.

I have ridden in a new 4runner without the X-REAS and it was fine but I did notice some body roll.

Does anybody have this feature and do you think it is worth it?

Thanks.

Default I drove both and chose the SE

I don't know if it makes a huge difference but the price between the SR5 and the Sport Edition was only $1K. I figured a grand wasn't worth the regret I would have down the road for not chosing the sport. It makes the off ramps a little more fun

I test drove a Limited with and a Limited without X-REAS. To be honest, I could not tell the difference. My test dive went down some real curvy roads. Maybe if I spent more time in both I could tell the difference, but my initial reaction was that it wasn't worth the extra money. Throw in the hood scoop along with the X-REAS and I might be interested, but for X-REAS alone, I don't want it.

Lightbulb X-REAS worth

I live in a mountain terrain area and sell Toyotas. My wifes new Sport with the X-REAS system was the decieding factor on getting it as well as getting almost everything the LTD gets except the painted exterior stuff and the power seats and paying 4 grand less. Plus the wheels and the scoop and the front guard enhance the look for somone whos in there mid 30s!

houstonship:

ultimately it all depends on what you plan to do w/ your 4runner. if it's going to be a 100% highway vehicle, then i'd say it's worth getting the sports model since it has the "fancier" rim and larger brakes. plus it comes w/ a cool looking (non functional ) hood scoop.

Don't forget the jbl 10 speaker system too! and prob a few others that i'm forgetting...

but if you want to get it to go on the trails (i.e. mild - mid...whatever), then i'd suggest getting the sr5.

See I would have gladly spent a few more bucks on the sports model but a few things kinda deterred me.
* 17" rims w/ larger brakes - will make it impossible to fit 16's and any m/t tires....
* x-reas system - i will most definitely upgrade the suspsnesion anyway to lift it... no need to have the extra when it's going to come right off..
* jbl 10 speaker system.. - nah rather install my own jl system

But then again most people definitely won't be taking their '03 4runner out on the trails so, getting the limited or sports would be better on the long run (resale value)....

just some food for thought. also other things to consider. sports model does not come w/ the color matched cladding whereas the sr5's now come w/ color matched cladding on limited colors....
obviously the limiteds come w/ all color matched... but it does come w/ quite a bit of stuff too!

I still haven't got it yet. I almost went for the limited then I realized that I didn't need all the luxury of the limited. I decided to wait. I have been looking around at a couple of dealerships. Carmax has the best pricing that I have seen so far, they are about $200 over invoice. I hope that I can get a dealer to do better than them or at least match so I don't have to drive to laurel.

I really wish that the mid Atlantic dealers had a web site similar to what they have in the south. You can put in your search criteria and it brings back all of the matches so you don't have to search each dealership. I am going to be real picky, and get the exact options and colors that I want. I know the dealers can do this, but they don't want you going somewhere else. They say that they can transfer them to their dealership, but I know that I won't get as good of a deal if they have to pay to have it shipped in.
