4RunnerGeneral discussion forum for the Toyota 4Runner.
This is a discussion thread titled "4runner questions", within the 4Runner forum, part of the SUV Forums category.
Hey guys, this may have already been posted and if it has I am sorry.
We are looking at buying a 2006 4Runner. It is an SR5 model, with traction control, hill decent, center diff lock, V6 automatic, etc.
It has 65000km's on it. Appears to be in really good shape,
Jut wondering what if anything to look out for on these trucks. It is replacing our '99 that we rolled a week ago.
That's high mileage (even in KMs) for an '06, which you can probably figure out for yourself, but there really isn't alot to worry about. They're not bullet proof but close. I've heard some guys with V6's say "they should have had a V8" but as long as it's 4WD and has the options you want I'd so go for it. You should be able to get it around 20k in an SR5 with that many miles and it's barely broken in at 65kms, especially the V8 models.
Get a Limited V8 4x4 with Nav and throw $4k at it so you can be cool like me, lol
Nice rig, how do you like the SST's? I was thinking of running them on my Tundra when the Daytons wear out.
Yeah I know the mileage is a little high, but I think the price is pretty good, they are asking $27,000cdn and we haven't started the fun part of wheelin and dealin'.
the STT's really make the thing man. It's aggressive looking and pictures never seem to do it justice. there's a whole thread full of guys talking about them over at t4r.org. They seem to be pretty well liked, good wet traction, good snow traction, quiet around town with minimal drone on the highway. And of course they love mud, but still clunk up like any MT occassionally. got mine from eastcoast tires online for a little over $200 each which made them about the same price as the stock replacement michelin cross terrains (also a wonderful tire) so I had to do it. I'm about to sell the front OME 885 spring and strut assembly cheap, and pre-assembled if you're interested. It should fit several year tundras, not sure which but I could check. upgrading to Donohoe Racing coil overs.
