Is the maintenence light set to go off around every 5k miles? I use synthetic oil and the light just came on but i want to hold off until i have about 7500 miles on this oil. Do you guys that change oil every 7500 miles just reset the light without changing the oil?

Yes, they go off at 5k miles.

Are you talking TOTAL miles on the vehicle? Or just the change?

Yes, you can reset the light w/o changing oil, & most people do.

But what i did on my new rigs was this:

Change oil at 2k-2500 miles w/ synthetic, and then i changed again at 5k with synthetic. This IMO is sure to get rid of any excess dino oil in the engine.
I have now switched to amsoil, and will be changing oil at 10 or 15k depending on OA results. OEM filter will be replaced every 5k until i use them all up. Then i'll switch to the amsoil filter also.

A little off topic, sorry. Yeah, just reset the light.

Change at 6000- M1/filter =$28 Change at 3000 x2, reg oil & 2 filters = $30. I dont have a problem going 6k. When I bought my 91 Toyota they told me to change at 5k w/ reg oil and I sold it w/ 150k still going strong. May be over kill but I like to think im going the "extra mile" to protect my engine and the cost, as I do is a wash. ---Buzz.
I do the exact same regimen. Not overkill. 6K OCI's are appropriate according to my UOA's. TBN #'s show 6K is just right for me.(combined highway and local where I live)
The TBN lab result shows my M1 5W30 still has added package left for protection. 90% depleted at 6K. That's a perfect Interval for me.

3.3 3MZ-FE V6
M1 0W30/Winter; 5W30/Summer
M1,K&N oil filters.
Sometimes OE filters, but I change the OE filter in between OCI's at 3K miles. Then top off the oil. I have a case OE's lying around. So I will use two in one OCI.

One Synthetic MYTH is that it is only NEEDED for cold weather applications.

That is only one of the many benefits.
3K OCI's is just a waste of effort and time.(whether Syn or Dino) Yu really don't save any money with Dino over a Syn oil at all.

It's a wash, AND yu can go longer and closer to the manufacturers recommendation of 5k or 7.5K miles.

Syn will keep your engine gel free. Dino won't.

M1 5W30 $20 per 5 Quart Jug At Walmart. My V6 has a 5 qt capacity.

I stock up. M1 will cost me only $100 for 30K miles worth of OCI's. And $60 aditional for the Premium oil filters.

People using Dino are gel'n like a felon.

VVT-i engines deserve better. Just common sense.

On my 2003 4runner sport V8, I only use mobil synthetic oil and toyota filters. I do my oil changes as per the maintenance light which is every 7000 mls I believe. I have used castrol synthetic in the past but switched to mobil once i found out that castrol synthetic wasnt full synthetic.

I generally pick it up onsale at advance during there monthly oil sale rotation..if not I get the gallon and an aditional at wallmart for around $ 19.00
