Talking Finally!

After about 6 months of anxious waiting and the initial shock of seeing the first Tupperware clad SR5, I have finally taken possession of my 4-runner.

It was worth the wait. I am so glad that I held out for the appearance package.

The salesman and the dealership that I settled on were awesome. They not only went out of their way to get me the exact 4 runner I wanted, they gave me a great deal on it. The icing on the cake was they even gave me the 3.9 financing even though it was a transfer.

I guess Steve's 4-runner is safe for the time being. Although he may come out some day and see his sitting two inches lower.

If anyone in the Va/DC/Md area is looking for a new Toyota, call Clyde at Tyson's Toyota. He is a no nonsense salesguy that enjoys his job.

**Edit**
The JBL system sucks on my fresh off the boat 4-runner just like everyone elses. Center speaker too bright, and rear speakers are terrible.

I have the same rotten egg sulfur odor that Justin was suffering from. I don't think it is the gas because filled mine up with Exxon.

It's about time! Get some pics up of that bad boy! I haven't found a solution for that Sulphur smell yet but I'm tired of being accused of passing gas..hehe.. I did fill up with some 93 this week and I haven't noticed it as much but it's still there. I don't think the brand of gas or octane rating has much to do w/it. I hoping it's just a coating on the converters that will burn off over time. I had a stinky smell when I first installed my TRD catback on my Tacoma. It took about 5Kmi to make that smell go away.

Also, what size Rims did the SR5 package come with? My neighbor has the 17" Limited Rim's on her Plain Jane SR5 V6. What are some of the other option you got? Sunroof? What color interior? If you don't mind me asking what was your cost? I think I told you I got mine for $31,900 not including taxes and other charges. I ended out the door almost @ a little over $33K .. So do you like it?!

I paid $300 over invoice along with the other nonsense that they tack on. The sales tax, the dealer tax, the iwantmoremoney tax, and their "processing" fee. I guess I could have saved the $289 if I had found it in MD, but I am sure there is some catch in MD. The salesman was cool enough to give me a copy of the invoice which has all their pricing info. The pricing on the invoice matched exactly what I found on edmunds.com.

It has the Taupe interior. I like the color, but it seems to clash with the silver trim on the dash and the door panel. I am sure some one will come out with a carbon fiber or wood kit to cover up the silver.

It is a 4wd V8 SR5 with the appearance package.
Options:
Waste of $ JBL 6 disk changer
Sunroof
Leather wrapped steering wheel
17in wheel with Bridgestones (wanted Michelins, but happy that I didn't get the Dunlops)
Roof Rack - Black (looks better than the painted silver)
DRL - I need to figure out how to disconnect (waste of $40)
Rear wireless headphones - I absolutely did not need, but got for free
running boards
floor mats

All total it was somewhere around $32k with taxes and tags.

Wow you did really good for getting all of that under $32K!. CONGRATS! I don't know why more dealers don't negotiate this way. They would sell more cars on referrals alone. I orginally worked a deal on a plain SR5 V8 for $31K but ended up wanting the SE instead so I paid a little more. They had a white SR5 w/appearance package on the lot when I bought mine. I loved the truck but hated the taupe interior w/silver trim. The interior was fine(I have the same color on the Tacoma) but the silver really clashed. They should've used black or something else. I'm not too wild of the silver on my SE either. I do however like the silver roof racks and color keyed mirrors. I've got the same changer(I like it), Sunroof, DRL's, and all the rest of the standard sport options but no headset. I also have the 17's w/the Dunlops. They handle nice but I don't care for the tread pattern. Hopefully, BFG makes the A/T KO's in 17's.

I just looked at my invoice. The invoice total was 31211. I tried to point out that the window sticker stated that the 512 delivery charge coverd transportation and "processing" and that I shouldn't have to pay and additional 289. They didn't go for it. No big deal. I knew I was going to pay for it anyway.

On a silver, I think the silver roof rack looks good. It just clashes to much for me with the dark blue. I still can't figure out the logic in painting the small sections of the bumper silver on mine.

I really need to figure out how to disable the DRLs. I hate DRLs!

I got so caught up in getting it, I didn't even test drive it. The odometer had 3 miles on it.

Unhappy

It was a sad departure today. I had to let the security guard go since I didn't need him anymore. With all the talks about mods, lifted this, limited slip that, big meats...*sigh*... I'll miss him...

Alright Rob ! That's great news ! I wish you luck with keeping your foot out of it until the engine's "worked in". I made it all the way to 650 miles before doing that. Those were the longest 650 miles I've ever driven.

Steve

Hey nh,

I will try to get a picture, but I looked under the hood and next to the fuse block attached to the fender is a block that looks like a heat sink for a computer processor (best analogy that I could come up with) with a connector attached to it. Kind of like what your drawing looks like. Is this what I need to disconnect?

That may be the DRL Resistor. There is one like it in the same general location on the Tundra & Sequoia. Try unplugging it and see if that disables your DRL's, but causes no other side effects.
