Default Help with 2004 hatchback problem

Re: 2004 4runner hatchback problem
I've owned my 4 runner since 2005 and have run into some problems with the hatchback. A lot of dirt gets kicked up onto the hatchback (possibly an aerodynamic design flaw) which is causing problems with using the hatchback. Eg. the key won't always work to open the hatch or roll down the window, the wiper assembly broke off, hatchback won't close properly on first attempt and there is no way to manually override the electronics so the exhaust comes into the truck when driving..... Recently I had to replace the motor that runs the electronic closure as the hatchback opened up while driving down the highway (thankfully nothing fell out). Then it wouldn't close so I had to tie it down while transport trucks wheeled by at high speeds. The dealer said the motor had to be replaced but didn't know what was wrong with it, and I had to purchase a new one (this was not covered by warranty despite problems previously reported to the dealer regarding the hatchback). I would have installed a regular latch without the automatic feature but was told it wasn't an option. There is not a manual override...if it doesn't work, you can't close it, meaning your lights stay on, you can't lock your vehicle and when you use it you are overwhelmed by exhaust fumes. The part itself was very expensive and obviously very necessary. Now a few months later, again the hatch pops open while driving, and won't close again. Now I'm back to nothing works right.....I can't lock the vehicle, seal it from the springtime rain, etc. Anyone else having similar problems? If so, I'd appreciate knowing what has been done, if there is a recall/warranty on this, etc.
Thanks in advance to those responding.
