Default 03 4Runner Trany Cooler and Rear Sway Bar

Hello All

I need some advise as I am considering whether or not to have a transmission cooler and sway bar.

I tow a boat that comes in around 3700 lbs.

As for as I can tell with research I think I can tow upto 5000 lbs without a transmission cooler, but not really sure.

Also I can find no specs on a sway bar for the rear end, do I need to upgrade the existing bar.

This is V6 4x4

Thanks for Any Advise on this
JIm

If you have the 4.7 v-8, you already have a tranny cooler. It will be in front of the radiator & is about 8"x12" or so. It looks like a small radiator.

If you have the v-6 however, i would HIGHLY recomend you put a cooler on it. Otherwise plan on having transmission issues down the road.
I owned a 99 runner & towed our toyota epic 22 boat for one summer, and the fluid started to turn brown in color. I immediately put a tranny cooler on it & the fluid held up just fine. The bad thing about your transmission is that it is very difficult to check the fluid. The 99 had a dipstick so it was easy.

Also depending on how long you've been towing this boat without a cooler, i would suggest you have the fluid replaced.

Just my experiences, hope it helps.
