Default Exhaust problems

I have an 04 4 runner and when I let the back window down while diving, the exhaust comes in through the rear window. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so what did you do about it. The only solution I can think of is adding a pipe on the end of the exhaust to redirect the flow into the air moving along the side of the car instead of having it come straight out the back.

Welcome to the boards starnes!

Unfortunately the problem you are having has plagued man since the invention of the station wagon.
There is little if anything you can do because it's the physics of the design and air flow around it.
You could try moving the exhaust outlet to the side and that might help a bit. Remember that you don't have a lot of room to work with.

Good luck and hope that helps!

Drink more. It probably won't help you understand better, but it just might, and that's a chance worth taking....

odd, with my 99 4runner..I don't notice any exhaust through the back window at all..do you spend alot of time idling or creeping forward in rush hour traffic. that may have something to do with it

My 2003 4Runner does the same thing. One way around it is to roll down all the windows, then the airflow goes out the back window as long as you're moving. But this is a PITA, so I've just gotten used to leaving the window up unless I have lumber hanging out the window.
