Default New Purchase

Hello all,

Having joined this site last year after purchasing my 04 Sequioa I now have another addition to the family. Yesterday we purchased a 2005 4Runner to replace my wife's 2004 Nissan Murano. I never did like the Nissan and wanted something a little larger and one I could trust. Having driven the Sequoia for the last 17 months I have a good comparison. Like most others say I can only verify that the 4Runner is like a mini-Sequoia. Very much the same features and functions only smaller. The ride is much better and quieter in the Sequoia but the 4Runner is not bad. We did test drive the Highlander and Rav4 but liked the 4Runner the best. We ended up purchasing out of state and got a great deal at $12,900. The vehicle was somewhat neglected on the inside. Even though we purchased from a dealer it has a lot of residue from drinks etc. throughout the interior. The rear arm rest cup holder was really sticky and the previous owner tried opening with some sort of tool and gouged it in several spots. I removed it this morning to soak the parts in the sink and I am sure that once cleaned it will work good again.

The only problems I have are the hood supports are leaking and don't hold up the hood anymore. Anyone else have this problem or know where to get replacements cheaply other than the dealer? The vehicle did not include floor mats either but I am sure from the other residue I would not have wanted them. Does anyone know where to get decent mats that fit this vehicle other than the dealer?

The left rear back up light did not work. That turned out to be a loose plug. Not the one to the back up light bulb but to the brake light bulb. The wiring goes to that plug then to the back up light bulb. If it is not inserted correctly the other lights do not work.

I look forward to getting the same assistance with this new purchase that I have become accustomed to with my Sequioa.

Todd

WOW, That's a good deal. I just traded in my 04 with 60K on it and the dealer gve me $16K for it so $13K for an 05 is a steal even with the issues. I would start on the hood problem with a local parts store like AutoZone or PepBoys. Both should have standard size shocks, just make sure they fit before you buy them.

As far as Floor mats go, Even though I hate ebay, that is a great place for floor mats either used or new.

Good Luck, enjoy your 4runner.

Just purchased a Black '98 4Runner SR5 4WD w/AT. 3.4L - Bone stock. 189,000 original miles. (makes 6 Toyotas in a row - except for one small F150 distraction in '04 ) Paid $4800 thru a small pre-owned Dealer who got it at Auction in Dallas. This 4R was a One Owner traded into Toyota of Ft.Worth. Cleanest truck I've ever seen - esp. with the mileage. My '07 Tundra is my fifth Toyota truck in a row, dating back to my 2WD LB SR5 PU in '81. Sold Copiers out of the back of that one just outta college. Sweet. Can't wait to see how the '98 holds up. If it's anything like the previous six...I'm SET for while. Timing Belt, hoses, and belts were replaced at 187,500 mi. prior to Auction date. My son's driving it off to Illinois to play football in the snow and ice. Gotta love those 'Yotas - they just keep going...and going...and going....

Hood supports - e-bay, that is where I got mine for the Supra - fit perfect took about 5 min to install

Floor mats - I got the all season ones for from the dealer for mine.

The ride??? - I think the ride is better than the Sequoia hans down. The 4runner is quieter. Is your a limited? V8?
