Default Battery disconnect

I've got an '07 V-8 4Runner and I would like to disconnect the battery to re-set the tranny. The wife has been driving it and I don't like the shifting.

So, my question. When you disconnect the battery, what things do you need to re-set and how hard is it? Thanks

All you should need to do is your radio presets and clock.

Hmmm...I recently had the driver's seat replaced on my '08 Sport w/leather and when I got back in the vehicle, there were various electronic controls that didn't work correctly - the sun roof, the rear window and front door windows. Of course, after some fiddling they seemed to be OK. Call the next morning to the dealership got an apology for not "resetting" all these prior to me getting the car back. Seems there's a very minor routine that needs to be done to make the glass work like designed...not sure why tho...

I've done this a number of times on my 04 AND 08 4runner. You have to reset the sunroof, all the windows including the rear, the radio presets, DVD nav presets and thats about it. It really is no big deal. I highly recommend you leave it overnight so it can forget all of the tranny programming (I know it sounds strange, but thats the way I do it). Plus, do it when you have the gas you use most often in the tank (yes, it does make a difference).

I guess I should say the instructions are in the owners manual too. But short and sweet, to reset the windows after disconnect simply open them 1 at a time about 2 inches and press to close them one at a time and HOLD for 2 secs after the windows hits the rail. Takes about 1 min to do all 4 windows. If you forget, you'll see the windows don't "auto" open.

Thanks nativecal and others. I'm gonna do it this weekend. Appreciate you giving me the details. I looked the other day and can't find the owner's manual.....can't imagine what she did with it but it's not in the glove box
