What to look for buying used 4runner

Howdy folks
07 tundra owner here looking to add another toyota to the family. Im after a used 4runner limited for the mrs, this will be her highway commuter car and also her fun car (we are both lovers of the great outdoors). What I am looking for is a list of things to check out on the vehicle that the uneducated person would miss. Any input from current 4th gen 4runner owners is greatly appreciated.

p.s I am interested in a 2005 limited 4x4 v8 w/ 60k miles from a dealer. The miles are kinda high I guess but its certified. The are 'asking' 21k for it. I believe the trade in is somewhere around 14-16k for this vehicle. Would you consider it and if so how much max would you pay?

Well for a reference I just picked up a 04 4wd V6 4runner with 63000 miles for $14300 before taxes. Its also certified pre own from toyota.

Theres a 05 with V8 SR5 not limited 4WD with 43000 miles for $17800 and thats also Certified pre owned from toyota. Just for reference.

the power steering reservoirs on the V8 4Runner is so small that the fluid gets dirty pretty quick. Definitely look at that. Also, check for leaks where the actuator motor meets the transfer case, this is a well known issue on these and I hear can be expensive to fix. I don't think 60k miles is very high for a clean Toyota, especially if its been well maintained. That 4.7 V8 is amazing, mines got 118K on it and it runs great. Remember around 90K you're gonna have to do the timing belt and water pump.

You may want to check on price. I picked up an 04 Limited with 35k, Navigation and Platinum warranty for 16k. Definitely negotiate. Have them throw in a platinum warranty package and change the timing belt.

Yep, price is relative. Get what you want. I just bought a used 03 4runner limited with 139k miles for $11,000 here in Anchorage Alaska. It has cracked CV boots which I just ordered and needed a few bulbs replaced. The guy did put a new windshield and front brakes/roters on front. I had a local tech put it up on a rack and go over it for me. Overall it was in excellent condition other than a few items.

Don't be in a hurry. Get what you want at the price you are happy with. If you pay priemium, then expect priemium condition.
