Unhappy 95 4runner trany overheat

I have a 95 4Runner with 175k on it......Everything was great with this vehicle until 6 months ago......I blew a head gasket.....took it to the dealer.....$5k and a week later I'm driving down I95 and I drop all my oil....the dealer 200 miles down the road fixed what my orginal dealer overlooked.......I moved on.....5 months later I have to go back to the original dealer an have them work on my brakes.....they repaired the brakes, but they informed me that my speedometer cable needed to be replaced...(I new that). Keep in mind, this is 95 4runner...It was going to take 3 or 4 days to get a new cable...I didn't want to wait.......What they didn't tell me was that you could burn up your transmission if you don't have the speedmeter installed....My question is, has anyone hear of this and should the dealer accept any of the responcibility for not informing me that the truck souldn't be driven without the speedometer being installed?..there is a lot more to this story, but first things first

I've never heard of a failed speedo cable burning up a trans.....does the truck shift gears correctly?

With the speedometer installed there is a sensor that triggers a "lock" that allows the transmission to cool itself....If it isn't installed the trany will overheat.....that's from my transmission guy.....

Unhappy Re: 95 4runner trany overheat

I can't believe that no one has heard of this........I burned up a second transmission in less than 3 weeks because the dealers didn't know that a speedometer cable has to be installed or the tranny will over heat
