I have a 1994 v6 4 runner 110.000 well maintained, losing water somewhere towards the engine, not the radiator. When accelerate there is a loud rushing water noise behind the dash. Has anyone expirenced this problem? Help would be much appreciated.

Jan, welcome to the boards...
Without physically looking/hearing your truck, it's sometimes difficult to diagnose over the net but here goes.
Do you actually see coolant leaking? Any on the ground?
From what you describe, it sounds as though your radiator/over flow tank is low on coolant and the noise you hear is coolant being forced through the heater core, all due to a low level of coolant and being mixed with air.
I'd go to a shop and have them do a pressure test on your cooling system to find leaks, if any.
Good luck!
I had the same problem last year that turn out to be rust builded up in the hot/cool control valve on the fire wall. don't know the name of it, the little valve that stop or let the flow of hot coolant get to heater core. i just clean it up and use the new coolant.
Can you tell me where this part was? I am leaking coolant from the same engine (1994 4Runner, 3.0 V6). Sometimes it leaks a lot, sometimes I can drive it 30 miles without any trouble, and sometimes I can't force it to leak to get a better look. But the best I can tell is that the leak is coming from near the back of the engine, closer to the driver side, although there is no angle that I can get that I can see it actually leaking from anywhere. I fear the head gasket, just because I'm currently out of work, completely broke, and definitely do not have the expertise to fix it myself. Honestly, I don't have any money to take it somewhere to have it pressured. But no white smoke from the tail pipe. Coolant is a rusty color, and pretty sludgey (VERY sludgey in the overflow tank).
I understand that it's impossible to make a diagnosis over the internet, but if anyone can offer an opinion, I'd greatly appreciate it. This is, by far, the best source of information that I have found. (Picked up the Haynes repair manual, and am disappointed).

Hi Jeff,
that little valve on the fire wall right in the middle behind engine, you need to have another person to keep on pushing left/right to the hot/cool switch from inside the truck, that switch connected to the valve through a cable, that way you'll be able to see it where, to remove it is very easy, just two screws and two tubes. I just clean it up and, flush, use new coolant, after that, the running water/leak behind the dash NOISE is gone, the hot air comes back(i had no hot air before that) and the leaking problem is gone(i had to top up little bit coolant everyweek).
