'10 4runner

I talked with my dealers GM last week and his rep told him the 2010 4runner will be out this fall with a 4cyl & V6 engines only.....no V8.

Again, Dont hold me to this, but I have been buying toyotas from this person for 20 years. Has anyone else on the inside heard anything different or maybe what V6 might be used?

Anybody have any more info on the 4.6L v-8 for the 4runner, and IF it will be used as another engine option?

I too am curious what options we shall see for the '10.

I would have to imagine we should be seeing some spy photos or other info being leaked very soon especially if the new model will debut in the fall.

Here's what the Tacoma section has to say;

start of prodution, august '09

EVP discounts on all populary ordered option packages (i.e Enhancement package, SR5, Off Road, SPort)

New standard Safety Equipment
- VSC

Star safety system now standard on all models
-curtain and seat side airbags
-active headrests

New standard auto LSD on all models
-mechanical LSD (LD) dicontinued as a standalone option and dropped from TRD SPort packages
-locking diff remains on TRD off road

start of production is august so they should arrive late sep, early oct.

Do you have any idea or a guess when Toyota might release more specs or photos if its coming out in about 3 months?

no idea, they're being more hush hush than usual on this one. Toyota has dropped all enthusiasm on the suv line as an over-reaction to the economy. Hopefully the new 4runner will speak for itself, because Toyota may not help us much. If something comes along I'll share it, but you guys will probably find info before me

Didn't see any mention of a 4.6 V8. That would be a real bummer if they didn't offer a V8 in the new 4Runner. Higher, wider, longer = heavier and less power. A deal breaker for me.

4 cyl 4Runner? Damm... I thought they discontinued that long ago. Look like they introduce the 4 cyl back again... a 4.6L V8 would be nice!

Sorry boys,

No V8 at this time. If you look at the two pdf's that others have attached to the 4runner threads you will see that the V8 was discontinued for '10. Check out the redesigned 4runner thread over on edmunds.com. I too am bummmed especially after owning two V8 4runners and knowing how potent the 4.6L would have been in it!

The one pdf is an ordering sheet for canadian dealers so the packages might vary here in the US.

The 4Cyl would be fun in a 4Runner if it was the size it once was. We don't need big behemoth 4Runners, thats what the LandCruiser is.
