Default bug guard

Could someone please tell me how their bug deflector is attached to their 4runner? is it held on with the 3M strips or do you have to take off the grill for installation between the grill/hood.
I am in the market for one, but can't really find any detail on how they are installed. not a fan of the 3M strips, but thought i heard somewhere that was how how they were installed. Thanks for any help you can provide....

I have a Toyota one and it is attached by about 6 screws to the underside of the hood. The screws go into plastic anchors that clip into small square existing holes on the hood. It makes it really easy to remove for cleaning. I have no idea about the aftermarket ones though.
