Default Cleaned MAF - Autozone pulled a P0171

And 4 days later the check engine light turned itself off. Just simply remove and spray w/ CRC MAF cleaner as found on these forums.

There were no real symptoms when the CEL came on.

Idle seems much smoother.

are you saying that your light came on and then cleaned the MAF? or are you saying that you cleaned it and then got the code?

Sorry.

The light came on 1st for several days and never went off, so went to AutoZone where they scanned the P0171. They sold me a bottle of injector cleaner (pour in to gas tank) and also a can of CRC MAF Sensor cleaner. I came home to read these forums and removed and sprayed the well hidden MAF wires (deep in the little 'barrel'). About 4 days city use later (maybe 80 miles driven), the light turned itself off.

When the light came on, there was no noticeable change in the performance.

But after cleaning the MAF sensor, I am pretty sure it idles smoother, I recall a rougher idle while at a stop light with the AC on.

On our car, the two phillips screws of the MAF were HARD to reach. Recommend a 90 degree phillips tool like many allen wrenches are shaped, but I managed w/o one by attaching a phillips screw drill bit to an allen wrench w/ a small radiator hose clamp. Redneck trick.
