Default 5 or 6 quarts on 4.0L oil change?

It says 5.5, but how many here put just 5 or just 6 quarts DURRING CHANGE and what does dipstick say at that level?
Dealer put in 6 quarts in my mothers and I have read where 5 quarts puts you in middle of dipstick.
My 5.7 TUNDRA SAYS 7.4 and 7 is what I put in with dipstick in middle fill reading. One time dealer put in 8 and it was over.

I am wondering cause I don't want to put just a half quart?

I use 6 with no issues.. better to go slightly over than under, IMO....

In the middle is fine. Just don't overfill. You can ruin an oil gasket if you overfill. I can't remember what my dad puts in his 03 4.0 L. I think he puts in 6 and it is right at the top. In my 02 3.4 L the manual says 5.2 qts but that only puts it at the "ADD" mark. I put in 6 and it is right at the top of "FULL". My Honda Accord V6 takes 4.6 qts (whoever didn't make it 5 is an itiot). With the .4 qts, I put in the back and save it just in case I need to top off. Fortunatly I havn't needed to yet. But it saves me the next time from having to buy 5 qts. I just buy 4 and put the residual in (.4 qts). Our 4 Runners have a "cubby hole" in the back. I put an extra quart in it just in case.
