Default 4.7 timing belt?

I cant remember how often to change it. Ours is short tripped a lot and does not have a lot of miles at all but I think it was like 90K. Is that correct? How much does it cost by the way to have this done? I take all of my stuff to an independent mechanic by the way and dont trust any dealers to touch anything unless its under warranty.

Sorry - just noticed that this is in the 4Runner forum (got to the link via a search). The below info applies to a 1st-gen Tundra. An advanced search limited to the 4runner forum will still get you to the right threads in all likelihood.

90k or 6 years - whichever comes first. I'm at 62k and just hit 7 years without a problem but am about to change it myself.

There are many, many threads about this job including costs to buy parts piecemeal, to buy the kit from user volkstoy off of ebay (seems like a great deal with OEM parts and the route I'm going), and what people paid for somebody to do it. Costs varies depending on what all you want them to do. Belt only, belt + water pump, belt + water pump + pulleys + thermostat + ....

Do a search when you have 30-60 minutes to spare and start reading!

Thank you and we dont have 90K miles yet. The truck is short tripped to death but we do have about 6.5 years now. We only have about 55K on the truck but like I said its short tripped to death. I will talk to my wrench man about this.

Sorry to ask a different question on about the 4.7L timing belt? I unable to find info on 4.7 exhaust, nor I m able to post a thread at the moment. Has anyone with the 4.7L engine 2 gen exhuast have any cracks on the inlet side of the exhaust, on one of the pipes going to the muffler. Has anybody changed there muffler to what, and do you notice droning or not. All i can find is for the 5.7. Please help. Again sorry about this not sure what else to do. I do have aways to go until I have to do the timing belt, I think I m at 30,000kms, so far, or would that be under warranty still.
