Default Gas Tank Lid

Hey all, I got a '03 4runner that has a gas tank lid that will not pop open. Doing the wallet truck (sandwiched between the lid and body) will open up the lid.

Are there any fixes that are a bit more permanent and won't potentially leave me stranded on the road?

Default Re: Gas Tank Lid

There is a cable that runs from under the dash up along the headliner then down to the tank filler door. It runs inside the whole way so you shouldn't have a problem with corosion. When you lift the opener does it move freely? Can you push the button on the door in easy? You can access the back side of the release by removing the panel where the jack is located. I would pull that out to see if it is working properly. There really isn't a whole lot to the the system. It would be nearly impossible to get a kink in the cable because of where it is located. Your problem should be either at front or the back.
