Question how to soft restet check engines codes

My check engine and VCS/TRACK lights are on, I would like to soft reset without disconnecting the battery terminal as I usually do(hard reset), is this possible?
I have a toyota 4Runner V6 2001

There is probably a reason that your check engine light is on. The easiest way is to go to a auto parts store and have them scan the codes. They can also reset the light. You can do it yourself if you buy a scanner.
