Default Weird transmission problem

I have 2000 4cyl 2.7l auto Hilux-surf (aka 4runner)

During normal driving I lose power to the wheels as if the shift lever is in neutral position, even though it's in D. When this happens the vehicle won't accelerate no matter how further I depress the gas pedal. RPM would just rev to max. I have tracked the problem and it occurs when making left or right turn signal or turning on hazard light while driving with headlights on far sight. When I switch headlights to near sight the problem vanishes as if nothing happened.
Any ideas on what might be going on?

Default Re: Weird transmission problem

i had a similar problem with my transmission. I have an odd problem that came up one night as I exited the freeway and turned left. My transmission appeared to be stuck in neutral in any gear. i turned the engine off and when i tried to start it the starter just spun like it wasn't engaging with the flywheel. i put it in park and it started to roll backwards like the parking poll wasn't there. let meknow if you find a solution to your problem.
thanks
