Default 2005 4Runner SR5 door lock malfunction

Got my new 2005 4runner SR5 v6 w/ 3rd row seat 2 weeks ago.
No keyhole / lock on the passenger side. Fine. I suppose that's
the way it is.
But, the lock on the driver side works only 50%. It only unlocks
with key but can't lock the car. The key simply won't turn counter
clockwise. All 3 keys were tried. And yes, I can use the remote
and no, I can't remember the last time I'd to use a key to _lock_
a car if it comes w/ remote. Actually the day they showed me
the vechile before I bought it, the saleman had trouble opening
it - he managed to open it after applying some deicer (remote
control was inside the truck at the time). The next day I picked
up the vehicle, they said the lock was frozen again and if it didn't
fix after warming up in a garage, I should bring it back. I tried the
try to _unlock_ the car 2 or 3 days after delivery and it worked
(didn't test _lock_ with key till today to know it isn't working).

Well, it's a new car and I expect it to work, even something I may
not use ;-) Guess I'll have to take it in for warranty service.

Also today I tried to open the hood cover. Pulled the hood release
inside the car and went out to open it. As usual, I pressed the
little switch to _unhook_ the hood before I can lift it. Guess what -
the little pin connecting the switch and the hook came off from the
shealth/housing - I'd to slide my hand in to manually unhook it
before lifting it and reconnect the pin back to the push_switch
on the hood. What a shaky piece of junk!

Is it just me or what? In all fairness, I am satisfied with the truck
overall - drives well and make me feel safe. It's this little things
here and there that are annoying. On the other hand, I've had an
Honda Odyssey for almost a year and have had no complaints. It's
not that I want to start a flame here or anything.

Thanks. -tcpoob

Can't help you on the door issue as I've never used my keys for my door.

But for your hood mechanism, I'd have the dealer check as it shouldn't be flimsy by any standard.

GOod luck
