Default transmission cooler V8 05 4Runner?

I have an 05 V8 Sport Edition 4Runner 4wd. I have the Toyota hitch rated at 7000 lbs. ,7 pin wiring; the window sticker stated it has a "tow package". Was uncertain if I have an auxillary transmission cooler. Asked the Toyota Service Manager when I had the first oil change at 3000 mi. He stated my truck does not have a transmission cooler. So, wanting to pull my camper in a couple of weeks, I went to Uhaul to have a heavy duty transmission cooler installed to the tune of $150.00. The guy took my truck back to the service bay then after about 5 minutes he came out and told me there was a tranny cooler on it already. Does anyone here know for a fact if the V84Runner with 4wd have a tranny cooler. My window sticker states it has the tow package but it's not listed as optional equipment. Please help. Thanks.

I have a 05 sport with the v8 (2wd) mine has a tranny cooler from the factory, having been in the transmission business, you can upgrade it with a much better after market one.

All V8 4th gen 'Runners have a factory-installed tranny cooler. Open the hood and look for the smallish radiator on the right side in front of the main radiator.

I've towed my 4,000 lb trailer for something over 30K miles, first with my '98 'Runner and presently with my '03. My tranny overheat light has never illuminated and neither truck has shown any other signs of heat stress. I've towed through mountains and in summer heat with the A/C running with no problems.

I've never installed an aftermarket tranny cooler and nothing in my experience suggests one is needed. Toyota builds good, rugged, well-engineered stuff. If you keep the load on your truck within Toyota's published limits, you shouldn't have problems.

Good luck.
