Default 2005 4Runner Gurus...a ? about DRL conversion

Can anyone give me a definite answer on this....

First, some background:
The wife wants to buy a 2005 4Runner V6 4X4 Limited model and she wants Daytime Running Lights, which are an option that is not available in California at this time, although we did see them earlier in the year.(all dealer searches have turned up zero at this time)

Now the questions:
Can a man just buy a DRL relay from toyota, plug it in, and have DRL?
Or...is there some kind of a kit?

IMHO, The parts guy at our local dealer was much too quick in saying no, especially since he did not look in any books/diagrams/computers, and the Sales guy was standing there too.
My experience on my 2000 Tundra has taught me that many optional configurations are prewired, and I'm hoping this is the case with DRL.

Yes, you can buy the flasher relay and plug it in. I did this on my 4Runner and haven't had a problem. The only thing different is that the light housing, socket and bulbs are different between the two models, but no modification is necessary.

I should've been more specific.

There's a flasher relay that sits on the main fuse board above the driver's pedals. All you need to do is take off the knee panel, remove the fuse board, disconnect the exisitng flasher relay and harness and plug in the new relay.

Here's some more info:

And now the news has been given to the wife that Daytime Running Lights are actually the turn signal lights constantly on and not flashing, and they go off if you turn the headlights on.

What she was looking for was the constantly on half intensity headlights that was standard issue on her 2000 4Runner that she used to have.

Is that still on 2005 V6 4X4 Limited 4Runners?

Nope, Toyota changed to the turn-signal Corvette-like DRL's in 2003.

tkr128, you ARE the man!!!!!!

now I can give my wife the scoop. She needs to let go of this DRL thing and just buy the dang thing(4Runner). DRL won't be standing in the way anymore now.
