Default Bumper info

I have been searching the web for a while and I have had no luck with this: I have a 2004 4runner v-6 and I am wondering if anyone makes a swing away rear tire carrier for this vehicle. Also, I am wondering if the front winch bumpers from the newest gen taco's will fit as they vehicle are similar in size and front end design. I would like to free up the space under the vehicle where the spare sits to make room for a tool box recessed into the floor. Thanks in advance.

As far as I know this is your only option for the front winch bumper (but it is a great option!):

I'm not sure about the swing-away rear -- let me know if you find one.

Ok, I was out looking at the runner this evening and here is what i came up with. **I may remove the center section of the plastic overbumper and form a piece of 3/16" steel plate to basically match the contour, but extend under further. Into this I would incorporate a hinge mounted on the face of the bumper. It would hold the spare in the center and swing to the pass side to open the tailgate. This piece would mount to the rearmost crossmember and therefor should be quite solid. It would afford no mor corner protection, but i like the finished look of the factory corners (and they are not damaged yet!) I would likely powdercoat the bumper portion silver to match the factory piece and use flat black on the swingout and hinge. It will have a tow loop on both sides.

There are lots of companies that can fabricate a new bumper for you. I know Jason Demello at Demello Offroad has done a lot of custom work for Toyotas. He did some work for Lance's (a.k.a goodtimes) 03 4runner. I think he posted some pictures here of his new armour.
