Well, it's a little over a year later, and we're up to 91,000 on the odometer. Not too shabby. Now I have to worry about getting the timing belt replaced!!!
1999 4Runner v6 sr5 4x4 5spd (stick) with 165k miles. Believe it or not, it still has the same clutch (although needs to be replaced now), original brake pads (front and rear - just started squealing last week), gone thru some tires. Other than that, absolutley no probs what so ever. Put in a couple new batteries, regualr 10w30 oil changed every 3k, reguar maint serviced by me. Consumes ZERO oil. Level never goes down.
The thing still feels tight when i drive it. Im currently getting ready to do a big service on it: Clutch, brakes f&r, timing belt & wat pump, all hoses & belts, trans & diff fluids, lift and tires. MAybe a light bar or different bumper - well see.
Best dam truck out there.
I have the exact same machine, except a year newer. It's a great rig!!
2 months ago bought a 2001 SR5 Sports Edition w/127,000 from a friend. He took great care of it and had all the required maintenence done. Timing Belt/water pump/brakes/tune up @115,000. I Just put brand new Michelin Latitude tours on it, thing runs great and rides smooth, it's got a few bumps and bruises here and there, but basically a new ride!
200k+ on my 98 limited 4WD. I've never even seen my check engine light. Done the brakes a few times, alternater, My second power antena broke, so I said screw it, since i listen to my ipod anyway. Had my rear axle seals replaced, inner and outer, that was around 120k I think. I don't know if that had anything to do with all the rough mudding i did on it from about 7k-60k. Right now i need to replace my u-joints. Other little things that don't really bother me that have gone wrong: the speedo sticks sometimes and a little tap on the top of the dash board pops right back in place. At around 150k the ECT quit working, don't know why. I couldn't be more happy with this vehicle, i have been very rough with it and she has treated me so well. I'm gonna drive her into the ground.
I do all of the maintenence myself. The alternator started smoking last week so I have to take care of that soon and get it smogged. After that, back to driving it Monday through Friday...
Just passed 50K on my '05 4Runner. Just changed front brake pads and turned the rotors today. The only annoying mechanical issue was the sunroof - got some debris in the tracks and burned up the motor, had to have the motor, track assembly and cable assembly all replaced. Extended warranty covered it thanks to dealership service! Never had issues like that with previous '01 Pathfinder or '96 Accord sunroofs. Overall, best vehicle I've ever owned...
