03 sport 99,900. No problems previous owner did some serious off roading. Needed to replace control arm at 39000 miles as a result. Would not align correctly.Lppking forward to another 100k at least.
#1. 05 Sport V8 29,xxx miles. No issues at all. Currently disabled by deer strike.
#2. 98 SR-5 V6. Taken over by my son at 112k after many miles towing heavy trailers [2 tons+]. Finally replaced clutch at 150k. No other problems beyond routine maintenance. He traded for a new 06 Tacoma Sport at 170k.
#3. 88 SR-5 V6. New clutch, rebuilt diff at 120k after towing boats a lot. Both kids took this one to college. New starter at 150k. Sold it to my mechanic when I bought #1, tired of chasing rust above wheel arches. He has since replaced clutch master cylinder and starter [aftermarket parts]. Now approaching 240k. I offered to buy it back for sale price when #1 was stricken; he refused offer. Bought a 99 Tacoma TRD V6 instead.
All 'runners bought new and serviced at home, except for timing belts done by mechanic.

[If Toyota made a true sports sedan, we would no longer need BMW's]
157K on my '03 and no problems. Just did conversion to Solara '07 Nav with factory XM, steering wheel controls with mic and it works great.
I've got to ask about that radio conversion. How big of a project was that? Do the head units just swap out? Where did you aquire the Solara Nav unit and how much $?
I'm very curious if that is something I could do to my '01. Love the truck, but the stereo is a little lacking....
97k on our 2001 Ltd 2wd. Replaced the brakes and rotors, regular oil changes, a battery, and uh, that's it. Runs like new and I think it may be "tighter" than my 05 taco. I guess that's good? After reading through this I think I'll wait a while on dumping $$ on the the timing belt...

my 2002 toyota 4runner is at 105 thousand now and i have already done automatic transmission flush, changed front break pads and adjusted handbreak, what else should i do now?
My 04 4runner just passed the 70,000 mark a month ago... only issues so far is the stupid thing wont stay aligned. Love the power, even when towing a 9000 lb boat/trailer.
1999 SR5 with aftermarket leather and real wood trim (added by 1st owner, and the wood is beautiful!). 120,000 and outside of regular oil changes...
118K...Had throttle body cleaned to fix idle speed problem
112K...Had shop replace rear axel seals (and bearings "just because you're in there")
112K...flush tranny
110K...front brake pads. No roter surfacing needed.
108K...Put in new starter. Not too difficult DIY.
100K...new O2 sensor.
95K...new timing belt and water pump ("just because you're in there")
Unfixed is master door lock switch. I just can't justify like $250 so I can unlock the doors from inside. But, I'm getting close to it driving me nuts!
Wish list would be a little better quality carpet (Toyota carpets suck!), more comfy seats, and more low end power for climing hills to Lake Tahoe with the dog and everything but the kitchen sink loaded for family vacation.
