Will the current 4runner be like that last generation....easily reach 300k miles with no problems. Has anybody here reached 100k miles?
The new 4runner should not have much problem reaching those numbers. The only thing I really worry about on the current 4runner is the rear hatch that has the electronic closer when you close the hatch. I have never really liked that feature. Everything else is pretty much standard stuff that all cars have now so I am sure it will last.
40,000 miles and warped rotors as well....starting to see a patern here.
My 03 LTD was showing some brake pulse starting at about 45k. Aside from that and the infamous drivetrain clunk, it was flaweless when I traded it in at 56k.
I think they are extremely solid vehicles and I loved mine. My concern over the long haul would be the complexity. multiple cams, AWD, VSC, Downhill Assist, Uphill Assist, 8 airbags, rollover detection, TPS, auto rear hatch..... That's a lot of electronic gadgetry but this is the way for most of the new vehicles.
My 03 has around 50,000 miles, and other than a rattle that drives me crazy in the roof, problem free.
I forgot about that one. The sunroof rattle that won't quit. I just learned to live with that one too. It really was an awesome vehicle and a small irritant on the whole.
24,500 miles with just a rattle in the rear hatch the dealer fixed. No problems yet with warped rotors or the sunroof; my fingers are crossed. Has been a trouble-free vehicle for the wife and kids.

I have a 1986 4Runner. I bought this car brand new, and it has been with me for more than 18 years. This cars has never broke down. The motor has a lot of power still. I love my 4Runner. This truck looks like new. Some people don't believe that this truck is 18 years old.
1999 4Runner v6 sr5 4x4 5spd (stick) with 165k miles. Believe it or not, it still has the same clutch (although needs to be replaced now), original brake pads (front and rear - just started squealing last week), gone thru some tires. Other than that, absolutley no probs what so ever. Put in a couple new batteries, regualr 10w30 oil changed every 3k, reguar maint serviced by me. Consumes ZERO oil. Level never goes down.
The thing still feels tight when i drive it. Im currently getting ready to do a big service on it: Clutch, brakes f&r, timing belt & wat pump, all hoses & belts, trans & diff fluids, lift and tires. MAybe a light bar or different bumper - well see.
Best dam truck out there.
