New to Forum. Wondered if anyone knows what tool I need to buy for Raising/Lowering my spare tire. I have a Jack and don't really want to buy the $90 for the pieces in the jack tool kit!

Great to be on this forum learning about the Tundra and related vehicles. I have had a 4Runner, currently have an FJ Cruiser and will probably trade a 2005 Honda Pilor for another 4Runner or a 4 dr. Tundra or TACO. Good site for information.

Bought 03 4Runner Sport V8 with 25000 mileslast year. Now I am at 56000 miles. Truck came without spare and jack kit. Found a rim but still need a jack kit. Dealer wants $90 for the jack tool kit, have my own jack. Wondered if there is a cheaper solution to lower/raise the spare.

Hi everyone, my name is Kevin. I just bought a 97 4Runner, and I'm new to this forum. I am not quiet fimiliar with this 4Runner though. Is it ture that the 4Runner is much like a truck when I drive? Anyway, I need to drive more to get used to its characteristics.
One other question is that I found some heavy noise rattling close to the VIN plate below the windshield. So can anybody tell me how to dissemble the instrument panel top plastic cover without damaging or touching the passenger air bag, and to access the VIN plate area?

I just traded in my 98 camry (192,xxx miles) less than a week ago and picked up a 96 4runner. the only thing I don't care for is that it's black and an automatic but I'll live with it. I also just filled up the first tank and got 18.7 mpg, which I don't think is to bad. I've been a member on here for awhile just never really posted unitl now. Here's my ride.

Thanks, this looks like a great site! I am in a bit of a jam.....I have taken all apart in prep for a new timing belt and now can't get the crankshaft pully off (pully keeps turing as I try). The manual says i need a special holding tool. Anyone have some solutions for me?

Hello,
I'm over from the tundra site. Just traded in the 02 sequoia for an 07 sr5 4runner v6. The sequoia was an awesome ride but the wife likes to drive too much. It had 84k on it in 4 years.....
I think you all will find this interesting...
I traded in my sequoia and my brother got rid of his 03 POS tahoe for a 07 sequoia.
My sequoia was a 2002 and the tahoe being a 2003. The tahoe had only 40k miles and was emaculant, the sequoia had 84k and had a few scratches on both sides of the rear bumper & leather was starting to crack.
We got 16,500 trade in for the tahoe and 16k for the sequoia. Can you beleive that crap? Both paid 40k new.
They said is was do to gm going with 0% interest, huge discounts on new rigs, etc...
I would think that book is where they should be, but they claimed that the market is very soft on gm suv's. Gee....i wonder why?
40k miles on 03 tahoe and had 1 transmission rebuilt (needs another one), guages only worked half the time. Plus lots of other trips to the dealer for other stupid little things.
Toyota isn't perfect, but they are a long ways ahead of domestics.

new member...Looking at a torn cv boot only, saw a post for it, a bit dishearteneing, any truth it could be done without replaceing the whole axle? my outer is totally torn contrary to my previous post on drivers side exposing grease everywhere.

Greetings. New member from Arkansas and owner of 1998 4R limited with 158K miles, 4WD, auto, dune paint, in excellent shape. I am an engineer (big deal..I know) and really enjoy cars in general.
I see a lot of forum members have the same dealer as I do...pretty cool.
