Hi! I just got a really nice 1999 4Runner a few weeks ago. Love the truck, but have an ongoing "check engine" light problem. I'm hoping for some advice.
P.S. - Also hit a deer on these lovely PA icy roads 2 days ago. Not alot of damage, but the front bumper and turn signal got screwed up.
03- 4runner V8 sport owner & a new member to TundraSolutions.com!
Hello everyone, I am the owner of a 03 Sport, V8, 4x4, hood scoop, JBL, running lights , silver roof rack and door handles, moonroof, black with sport trim.
Its my second 4runner I was the previous owner of a 98 limited 4x2..black and gold trim.
I love my ride except for the few quirks. I will be asking a lot of questions..

Hey there. I have a '95 SR5 that I bought a couple yrs ago in order to keep my '04 Solara warm and clean in the garage during the winter. I jumped on TS to keep tabs on this PXLPainter character we have over on SolaraGuy.com.
But hey... a 4Runner section? Great! I have very few gripes about mine but she'll be getting into the high maintenance zone shortly so this may come in very handy for reference. (120k)
Y'all have a fine Monday...
Oh... and the username confuses some folks... it's "Down to the sea".

Hi everyone! We just got a 1991 Toyota 4runner SR5. Was looking for some info on my TRD package when I came across your site. WE also have a 2001 PT Cruiser. Don't know much about TRD except the sticker on the rear fender Would appreciate any feedback.

Wanted to check in Im a new member here ,found this forum last night and wanted to say hello. I usually do all my own maintenance and have found these forums to be a lifesaver with my past vehicles. Now driving a 97 4runner in excellent shape which my son gave me after my old Nissan Path went to ground at 205k.

To all that have a 4 Runner and especially those that have a V8 in it. Now you have a great car with little to worry about because these are so o o o relyable. I have just turned 24,500 trouble free miles on my 2005, just oil changes and lubes so far.
I used to be a Jeep Cherokee man, but after having 4 of them I gave up and went to Toyota and as I said, with no looking back. Just a great car. No womder Toyota has a 12% gain in sales.

Just purchased a new 4Runner Limited with JBL system. Does anyone have experience with Sat. receiver and antenna on this unit? I had them installed after purchase and have the worst reception. Toyota dealer is of little help. Either the antenna is bad (though I did replace it with a non-JBL one which did not help) or the buffering component of the unit is bad. Looking for help/advice.

I have a 2005 4 Runner with the Jbl but the antenia is built into the rear side window and I have no trouble in receiving signals.
I'm not really sure of your question. Is the after mkt. system you put in for T.V.? To answer that question. I'm blank. Sorry !
However, I am completly satisfied with my car without an external antenna that is sublect to vandalisim.

Thanks very much. I am new to this forum, but have owned Toyotas for almost 30 years. Right now I am on my second 4Runner, a 2003 Limited V8 that in general we have loved. About a year ago the vehicle started with a very disagreable smell. It is kind of a moldy, chemically odor that seems to come from the front of the car, but permeates the whole truck. I have taken the vehicle to my dealership where I get it service several times where they can offer no good solution. We have sprayed an anti mold airasol that they gave us into the intake grate in front of the windshield many times. This just makes the vehicle smell wierder for awhile until it just settle back down to the original odor. The service manager suggests checking out the airconditioning condenser which would entail a big service job (pulling out the dashboard, etc.) in excess of $700/800. this is the 7th Toyota I have owned, but my wife swears it will be the last (it is her truck). Has anyone ever experienced anything like this before? Any suggestions?

Sounds like it could be the fresh air filter from the air conditioning side located in the cabin behind the glove box, You have to remove the box to get to the removable filter. If your car has one, I would check this out. I know my 05 4 Rinner ha one in it, so check this out first as it can get smelly if left in too long.
This filter cleans the air coming into the cabin when the air is turned on to remove dust and other stuff as you enjoy the cool air.
