Default Obsession

Bought my 5th toyota a couple of weeks ago, 06 4Runner sport 4wd v8 in Shadow Mica. I am in my late 40's and this is my 45th vehicle. You might say I have a passion, or as my wife calles it, obsession for cars. Out of these many many vehicles American, German and Japanese the most trouble free have been the Toyota's. 5 of them, over 15 years, 400,00 miles and 1 problem (fixed under warranty), try that with a BMW! The biggest problem I seem to have is that I get bored with cars but alas I had my 99 prerunner for almost 8 years and still loved driving it. This was the reason I came back for another Toy Truck.
This 4 runner with the xreas suspension is amazing for a S.U.V. (stupid usless vehicle as I used to call them). The 4.7 is soooo smooooth it blows me away. Not even a tick at idle (my 2002 Trans Am LS1 sounded like it was going to drop a piston or spin a bearing it had such knock at idle with only 4000 miles) I spent over 8 months and drove everything, and I mean everything from Acura to Volvo and came back to Toyota. The hardest decision was between the Tundra double cab 4wd and the 4Runner. I love the current size of the Tundra and was afraid that the new one would be too big if they go the way Nissan did with the Titan. I drove the Titan and I felt like it should have been called the Titan-ic.
It was a tought choice but the size, ride and handling of the 4Runner sport finally won. Then the deal that Precision Toyota of Tucson and salesman Scott Benson, gave was just too good to pass up.
Guess I have to say Toyota has made me a customer for life!

Default Looking for modification info

Hello everyone,

I have an 03 Tundra that I'm thinking of making modification to the engine and exhaust system for (what else!) more power. I signed up so that I may search the forums for posts in these areas. I am also a former dealer tech. Look forward to learning and contributing when I can.

Best regards,

Default Good day

Own a 2000 4WD, V6 Auto and love every inch of it. Glad I was able to find this site to help with problems that hopefully won't need to be taken in the shop to fix.

Look forward to reading through everyone's ideas for modifications and ideas for troubleshooting issues.

Hello everyone,
I'm a new member and a new owner of a 2000 4Runner.
It was great to find this website and all the info available on Toyotas.
I wonder if anyone knows where I can find a Toy4Runner shop manual for a reasonable price?
the Dealer says it is a 2 volume book and is about $200.

Thinking of buying a used 2003 4Runner V8. Just doing some research. Looks like a great site.

Hello, I am new to this forum. I own a 2000 4-runner. Got it when it was new, have loved it ever since. I now have 105,000 miles on it and it is starting to act funny. Thought I might be able to get some answers from this forum to help me save my 4runner.

Hi. Loving my new 2006 4runner SR5, 4WD. I do wish I would have gotten the SE for the X-Reas suspension. Is there any way to get that installed on an SR5?

Hello and welcome. You can get a spacer lift for the 4 runner with X-Reas. It is a bit more difficult, but it can be done.

Thanks. Any ideas how much that would cost and if I can get it installed at the dealership?

Hey I've been reading the forums for a while but never posted. I've got a 1996 4Runner LTD that my family's had since it was new. It's been basically indestrucable for the 197+K that's on it so far. Oh yeah my mom drives a Highlander, and we've got a supra turbo for the summer too. My dad's a yota guy too (had the 4Runner before me and then 2 tundras) but he converted to a duramax Chevy until toyota comes out with a diesel because I race snowmobiles and the tundra just didn't like to pull my 27' race trailer very much.
