I have a 2004 Tacoma double cab. This looks like a very informative site. I am having a problem w/ my keyless fob (factory). Ihave changed batteries in both fobs w/out success. The manual says to see a dealer. Is there anything else I can check?

Newbie here. I have been an active member of T4R.org for over a year now and just recently found this site. I have already found much help here. I will definitely be visiting and posting as the knowledge base here is extremely extensive. Thanks and glad to be here.

Hi all. I recently purchased a white '04 4Runner sport addition with the v6. I am very pleased with the overall vehicle. It has color coded bumpers and fenders, leather, JBL, and moon roof. I have added a K & N Intake and a gibson exhaust. Definitely boosted power in the 3K RPM and up range but the torque loss at low RPMs was a little bummer. I joined to learn as much as I can about performance and lift mods. If anyone has any other performance mods with good luck, let me know. This is a great site.

hello all.
obviously, i am new to this forum and am looking to get a little more information on the toyota 4Runner. i am anticipating to purchase one within the next 2-4 months depending on how and if i get a new job. i of course would love to have an 06 4Runner, but i think i will have to get an 04 or 05. my biggest concern is a 4 speed auto or a 5 speed. i know the 05 comes standard with a 5 speed and that is something i definitely want. but may not be able to afford. is there any difference? i did have another ? i would love to have answered. when i test drove the 4Runner, i noticed a button to the left of the steering wheel showing the front wheels turned to the right, an X and the last two wheels. what does this button do. i know all 4wd 4Rs comes with a Torsen limited slip center diff. does this button lock the diff, like most 4wd? or is this the way to open the diff up if you want to say drive on slick or icy roads?
thanks for the site and look forward to hearing from you all.
I don't pay much attention to the break-in proceedures in the manual. I baby it for the first 200 miles, then, gradually start increasing the amount of throttle that I feed in on accelleration and the same for the RPMS. After 500 miles, I'll give it brief bursts of WOT. After a 1000 miles, I play as I want! The 4.7 I had in the Tundra continued to show an increase in throttle response up to about 5000 miles. But I can already tell that this engine is SWEET & the 5 speed tranny is going to add a lot to the overall performance.
Re: Welcome to TundraSolutions.com! - New Members/4Runner Owners Introduce Yourself Here!
It's encouraging to see such a great forum! I have just purchased a 2000 4runner Limited with 100k miles and the truck feels brand new! What a quality truck. The 1st thing I need to do is replace the timing belt since I don't think it has been replaced. Any info on other components to change while doing the timing belt would be appreciated. Also has any one else had a repititious low loping noise from engine (only at idle/only with ac on/only in drive or reverse???) I checked the compressor and its quiet. I thought maybe one of the main bearings(clearance issue) when a load is put on the compressor pulley. Would heavier oil or oil supplement work? This is a very faint noise that most people would not even hear but I do Thanks for such a great forum...Jeff (FL)

I purchased a previously owned 2004 4Runner, V8 Limited with nav system, in August 2005. I love it and want to update the navigation system. Anyone know where I can get one? I've been told the update DVD costs about $250 which is probably an OK price for such an item if it really adds to the accuracy.

Re: Welcome to TundraSolutions.com! - New Members/4Runner Owners Introduce Yourself H
Hi everyone,
I purchased an '06 4Runner Sport V8 4x4 Galactic Gray about a week and a half ago. I love it! I've been eyeing a Tundra in the past 3 months (which led me to this site) but reading about the 4Runner spiked my curiousity. I then took a test drive of both cars and preferred the ride of the 4Runner. If I were to really want a truck I would definitely get a Tundra, but my needs were better suited for an SUV.
I'm new to the forum so I thought I should say hello. I'm a proud owner of a Titanium 2003 Toyota 4Runner SR5 V6. Didn't really make any mods to it, just added a tip, painted the brake calipers red, and got the factory spoiler. It's the 2WD model but it's gone through its share of the rough stuff. One time I took it to our local state park where it was mostly unpaved dirt roads. Took a pretty sharp turn at 40 mph, car started to fishtail but the VSC kicked in and saved my butt. Thats when I discovered that when VSC detects an emergencey meneuver it actually beeps at you.
Sadly though gas prices are very high right now and I'm looking to trade in my car for a new 4 cylinder Solara. I know this is a 4Runner thread, but does anyone know if Toyota is planning on facelifting the Solara for 2007? If so do you think it will be out by this summer?
