Thumbs up Re: How much can a 4cyl toyota truck haul?

Dan,
I have a 1986 PU w/22R 5 speed, original owner, odometer 242,700. I have used my truck to tow a lot over the years, towing building matierial, and cars. I tow dollied from Colorado to PA my fully loaded bed (with topper on) with all my heaving power tools, and car on tow dolly (Fiat Spyder) also fully packed with spare parts. My truck did just fine, I adjusted my speed for the extra weight and road conditions. The one thing you have to remember is not how much weight your able to tow, but how much weight your able to stop! I would say that I was on the edge of being on the very unsafe stopping side, but I also did a full brake inspection, and mechical prior to my trip. The 22R is an amazing workhorse, you just need to make sure that all systems are working properly and check often.
