Angry Re: Sienna Bad MPG

We have a 2005 XLE- 17" wheels. I have been fighting with the dealer since it was new, (now 50k+ miles).

NEVER been able to get over 20mpg highway, no matter how careful I am. City is so bad I can't believe it.

Traded in a 1999 Odyssey which always got 25-28mpg highway. I thought 1 more gear and better technology would equal better milage than we had been getting.

The car does not want to stay in 5th gear. It downshifts on the slightest grade, sometimes into third.

I have asked the dealer to check it out repeatedly. The answer I get is that 'if no warning lights are on, nothing is wrong with the car.'

I really belive this is related to the programming of the transmission.

Again, the dealer says the transmission is acting normally, and has "Learned" to shift the way it does from our driving pattern.

I wish us both good luck. I am buying a TCH, and giving my Civic to the wife. The van can stay parked unless we really need it!
