I find a lot of the mileage claims that I hear to be very questionable. I got an average of 18 from the 4.7L in my 03 4Runner (weighing nearly 1000 lbs less than my Tundra and with different gears) over 56,000 miles of mixed driving (probably 65% highway). After 4,000 miles in the 06 DC, I've yet to see anything north of 14.5 mpg and I drive very conservatively on the throttle.
