I hear what you are saying. There is also tire choice (rolling resistance) and pressure. I'm hoping that my mileage will improve with break-in but I'm not counting on it. It's not going to make or break me (otherwise I wouldn't have purchased a full size V8 truck) but I've not seen over 14.5 per tank even on an all flat all highway trip up and down I5 in the central valley of CA. I have a very hard time believing 20+ claims.
