Hi Steve:
Yes! From what I've been told the vehicle arrives at the dealers with the standard radio installed, the service department then exchanges the standard radio for the radio/navigation unit and returns the original radio to Toyota. The end result is the same as a factory installed radio/navigation system. I have a vehicle on order with the navigation option but haven't received it yet. You have to price a vehicle to get to the options list! You may have to enter the link if clicking on it does not work.
You'll see that navigation is shown as a dealer install option.

I don't see why you couldn't order the navigation system and a later date although I'm not sure whether they would give you a credit for the original radio. Hope this helps.
