You need to clean the engine compartment, mask/cover the exterior of the vehicle around the engine bay, cover your alternator, and put something under the engine bay to catch drip off, but once you've coated and baked the stuff on, your engine and engine bay will look incredible for 6 months to a year depending on local conditions. Moreover, CD-2 is a dry coating/sealer that doesn't hold dirt like many of the wet coating/treatments which makes periodic clean-up very easy: just wash the engine and bay with your auto shampoo and a mitt, rinse with a heavy stream of flowing water, then blow away the beads of water with your leaf blower the way you'd chase water beads off the nicely waxed exterior of your vehicle.
