Default Re: Sirius in 07 Yaris

VAIS Technology (Toyota/Lexus Audio,Video and Information Solutions (Lexus Auxiliary input,Lexus iPod integration,Lexus XM integration)) has some bits and pieces (boxes and wiring harnesses) that may be of help if you want to have something other than a dash/windsheild mounted Sirius or XM Radio. They have boxes so that you can use your iPod and Sirius or XM. Alledgedly, their SoundLinQ Model SLU SoundLinQ SLU - Toyota/Lexus Auxiliary Input Adapter (fits most Toyota/Lexus 2001-2006). Lexus AUX adapter provides direct connection to OEM audio system. works well with certain Sirius systems for a permanent installation. The Artist/Title text reportedly comes through. They claim success with the Scion models.

I have written to Toyota on this topic several times. I was able to back-fit a Ford 500 using equipment from Radios and More (CD Changers, In-Dash CD Changers, Car Navigation Systems, Rear Seat Entertainment Systems and More Automotive Electronics from Radios and More) but all they have for Toyota is the stuff that fits the Matrix/Vibe.

Toyota is missing the boat on this one.

In the mean time, you can use the Sirius "output" jack to go to the Yaris "Input" jack, but you have to be certaint that you have the right cord (Staples or CompUSA sells cords) and that the Sirius Output volume is set appropriately. Don't expect good sound. It seems like the "Input" jack impeadance is optimized for the iPod. iPod volume must also be maxxed out to get good sound, and check equalizer settings.

Also, it depends if you have the top of the line radio in the Yaris (identified by the trim panels - trim panels are very smooth) or the radio that appears to be put in at the port.

There is a Sirius accessory that you can get at Best Buy that allows for a much better signal from the Sirius (Directed Electronics) Branded radios. It goes in-line in the antenna coax. I did this on an old 1997 Mercury and it eliminated problems with strong radio signals bleeding into the Sirius radio stream.

Until Toyota steps up to the plate, this is the best that you can do. Keep checking with the dealer if you want a "factory" set-up. Be prepared to shell out cash...on the order of $550 for a proper set-up.

Why do they beat up people who want to save on gas and the environment by leaving goodies out?
