From the mouths of old school mechanics concerning interference engines is that all motors are interference if the motor is spinning fast enough valves can hit the pistons but some motors are fine if the belt breaks at idle or a low speed. I have seen many 3 liters with broken t-belts and I have never seen any internal damage. So either all the 3 liters I have seen were going slow or it is truly not an interference engine. But IMO I would not go past 100K wiht out changing it even if it is not an interference engine. Most of the 3 liters start slapping the cover before they break and if it is slapping the cover I would change it soon.
