Definitely the fork mount. I've raced mountain bikes since 1993 and have seen a number of bikes that have actually fallen onto the sides of cars; smashing windshields, causing dents, and damaging paint. You can't trust a tire mount in the wind. Try crossing the Mackinaw Bridge with a 60 mile an hour cross wind with your bike mounted on a tire mount rack and you'll soon see your $2000 chuck of aluminum do a 200 foot swan dive into the Straits of Mackinac. Also, stick with Thule. They hold up much better and have a tendency to fit better than Yakima.
