Is there a limit on questions?
If not, my next one is about alarms - I paid the dealer on Saturday to install the factory alarm, and the windscreen and alarm install were supposed to be finished today.
Instead, I got a call that the windscreen's done, but they can't install the Toyota factory alarm in a convertible. That seems strange, although they were willing to sell me the Karr system they put on when cars are on the lot, or a LoJack instead. Hmmmmm...
I'm just curious if you or anyone else has an RS3200 Toyota alarm in your convertible.
If I could ask a third question - TRD RSB -- Rear Sway Bar? How much of a change, and how much of a punch to the wallet??? Before the Beetle convertible I'm trading in for the Solara, I had an MR2 Spyder. I didn't drive the Beetle hard enough in the test drive, and later discovered it felt much like driving a mini-van. I don't expect the Solara to be anywhere near that, but I'm pretty sure convertibles with their extra weight in higher places can use some improvement. It'll never be an MR2, but then again, I could never bring much home from the store with the MR2 either...
And if you want, tell me about your TRD springs -
Thanks again!

First - there's no limit to questions here - but I start charging $20/question after the first two.

LOL!!
1) I have no idea what they're talking about on the alarm thing - unless the "factory" system has to come from the factory and not a dealer-installed item. Mine came with it (and yes, it's a convertible). But my Tundra (previous Toyota) had the KARR system and I really liked it, so I'd have no problem going that route again - just make sure they put the LED in the lower-left dash (next to Top/Window buttons) like the factory system does so it still looks OEM.
2) The TRD RSB is the best investment you will EVER make for your convertible! I really can't believe Toyota didn't make them this beefy from the factory!

I have mine set to the stiffest setting (that's the way my girlfriend seems to like it) LOL!

But it's an easy DIY install and under $200. I'd also recommend the TRD FSTB (strut tower brace) which will keep your nose from diving into corners. Both cheap and totally stabilize roll on the vehicle tremendously!
3) The TRD springs aren't as easy a DIY project unless you got a big burly friend to help you (like I did - he's done dozens of rides before, so I just sat and drank beer while I watched him do all the work!)

From what I noticed, you need to really know what you're doing or have someone else install them for you. I also recommend that you either get the SE Sport struts and replace the SLE struts at the same time, or get an adjustable coilover kit (TEIN or comparable) and forget the springs/struts altogether. The later will cost you a lot more $$ so which is why I opted for the springs - but as soon as I can afford to, I'll be replacing with a stiffer, adjustable ride with TEIN coilovers.
Hope that helps!
