I just purchased a '03 Sequoia SR5 today. The dealer gave me (2) ELVAT1B remotes. They didn't work. The battery is fine. I tried 68KANE's method with no luck (as well as the other methods)
After you did the 7 on/off's do you leave the key in the ignition in the off position while you push the "unlock" button? (Or in your case the "Lock" button). I thought maybe I was missing a step and should pull the key out before trying the "unlock" button. I never get confirmation nor a working remote.
They whole securekey+ bit confuses me as others with the non-existent "valet" button.
I actually have the original window sticker. And the following is the only items I could find relating to the keyless/security system.
