Bought a New '95 Taco V-6 4X4 Extra Cab (stick) in January '96. Just sold it a couple of months ago with 141,000 miles on it. Did the head gasket "recall"...not sure if it was a recall. I resisted the "notices" from my dealer for some time because I was not having any issues. Finally went in for the fix. Had no problems afterward.
Had broken leaves in the rear springs. Beyond warranty. Toyota did not respond. Their fix (at my expense) was expensive. So I went to a local Spring Shop and it was fixed at half the cost. Two years later, the rear springs on the Taco were redesigned.
No other issues. I got 27 mpg on the highway, and 22 mpg on the highway towing a 3,000 pound boat through the mountains of New Hampshire and Vermont.
I'm getting 22 mpg with my New '07 Taco V-6 4X4 Access Cab "automatic" on the highway...... Not towing yet.
New is nice, but I liked my old Taco. TacoGuy
