Default Re: How many miles do you have on your Tacoma WITHOUT any problems?

The "deckplate" mod is a modification to the airbox on the 3.4L V6 engine. Basically you cut a 3-4" round hole in the front of the airbox and install a deck-plate.

What's a deck plate? It's a boating accessory that allows for a selectively covered hole in the deck of a boat. You screw the plate in when you want the hole covered and remove it when you want to (i.e. to wash down the deck, etc.)

It basically allows better/greater airflow into the throttle body and provides a very slight performance increase (if any). It does make the engine sound a bit louder though. It is effectively the same thing as installing a CAI but at a fraction of the cost. You cover the deck plate (close the airbox) for deep water crossings and dusty driving.

I don't think it is a mod for your 2007 Taco, as it has a different engine.
