It cracks me up that no one here ever purchased their 1st Gen because they needed it to tow 10k lbs, but now that Toyota is marketing the magic 10k number everyone is buying into it.

Next time I see a Tundra pulling a 33' Trailer I will make sure I put my family out of harms way and get around. I would not ever tow that with my 3/4 ton Cummins let alone a 1/2 Tundra, but people do and they will get themselves killed or worse, some innocent by stander like my family. I get so pissed when I see idiots driving trucks over loaded and I shake my head when I see them on their sides, upside down, in a ditch, over heated because they overloaded their vehicle.

Hook up that 10,000lb 5th wheel and then try coming down a 7% grade during stormy conditions (Rain, Windy) and try to make an emergency stop!

It won't be long before there are pictures of overloaded Tundra’s hitting youtube with attitudes like that I am reading in here.

I won't argue the fact that this 5er is too big for the tundra & should be towed with a dually. By the time you load that sucker up, you'll be at about 13000 lbs +.
The ONLY trailers i have seen in a ditch, or upside down were the TT 26'+ being towed by a short wheelbase ford bronco or SUV. And i have seen plenty, beleive me. I have yet to see a 5er.
I have came down plenty 7% grades in the rain & wind slightly overloaded. You must have some common sense when doing so. You can't expect all that weight to stop on a dime. In this situation, just simply reduce your speed considerably, gear down, and watch the traffic as far ahead as you can. And you'll be just fine.

If toyota says it can pull 10k, then everybody will. Including myself. But i guarantee you one thing, that 10k will ONLY be a 5er for me.
