Default Re: Bed bouncing question

People keep calling it a 'truck' issue, but no truck I've ever driven over that section or type of road has done anything like this.

The Chevy I used to borrow when I needed a truck rode a LOT rougher than the tundra, but it didn't act like this on that road. It just went 'fup fup fup' with no complaints. The Chevy didn't 'wiggle' when it hit bumps in the road. It just gave you a bit of a jarring impact, and it was done. Every time you hit a rough spot in the road with the Tundra (train tracks for example) it feels like you're riding a happy puppy that's wagging its tail.

I've also talked to various branded full size truck owners here at work with a similar commute. They had not even noticed the bad sections of road, and thought I was crazy when I described what the Tundra does.

The wife the other day asked 'why does it feel like the truck is going to go out of control when I'm driving on a bumpy road?'

Hmn.

I doubt there will ever be a 'fix.' You can't just replace the frame of a car like you would a bad ball joint, or alternator...

It's something we must live with, and hope that Toyota never fixes in this generation. Why? When we go to sell our trucks in 2-3 years (or 10-15 like myself) people are going to say "Don't buy those 07-08s, they have the wobbly frame!"
