We do have friends driving Siennas getting (they swear) 20 MPG, but after careful consideration of the facts(4255 lb.s), I think we have what we have. I do wish that Toyota would have posted more accurate mileage spec.s on the window sticker, and I still believe our odometer/mileage calculations are off because; on our last trip my odometer would read 9.3 miles travelled for every ten mile-markers---if those things are accurate, then my odometer and mileage calculations are off by 7%. The XLE that we bought came with 225-60/17 tires, and the others come with 215-65/16 tires putting the mileage closer to what the mile markers would read.
I think that is good news for XLE owners; most people complained low mpg are owned XLE or AWD Sienna. If the odometer is off on XLE (17 inch wheel) I just wonder why Toyota did not correct the problem.

So what you are finding bad mpg due to:

1-Odometer is off (on 17 inch wheel). Perhaps Toyota is using same odometer for CE, LE (16 inch wheel) and XLE.

2-More weight on XLE than LE (around 100lbs).

3-Perhaps, 17 inch wheel is taller than 16 inch wheel this make car is higher and less aerodynamics??

So the main problem is the odometer is OFF on XLE (17 inch wheels set), that make the computer display MPG is totally off. However, your van actually MPG is very close with Highway EPA rating (26 MPG).

For the City MPG, it's very hard to say because some city has too many stop lights and some less.

I still wonder if your car is really has low MPG will smog test show rich fuel mixture??
