Re: OTT - Why no Japanese Diesels?
[QUOTE=Radhe;699426]I can't imagine what would happen if Toyota and Nissan start coming out with diesel engines in their trucks. QUOTE]
My point was that the Japanese already have very good diesel powerplants sold in other countries.. nothing in a Tundra sized vehicle as far as I know. Just about everything in Costa Rica was a diesel and diesel fuel was about 1/3 cheaper. But even if fuel were 1/3 more the mileage and longevity of a diesel wins in large or small rigs. Mind you the last thing I like to drive behind on the road is a diesel but that is what the recirc button is for!
I used to own an '96 F-250 7.3L PS.. what a rig, sad a got rid of it other than you couldn't hear yourself think when you got on it. Those Duramax diesels sure are quiet compared to the PS or the Cummins.
From what I've heard I think on this forum, there will never be a 3/4 or 1ton Tundra and who know's what it will take to get a diesel into their 1/2 ton manufacturing chain here in the states.
All we can do is dream and burn more 87octane
