Re: 2007 6 speed transmission failures
.
My Tundra was driving fine .. or at least I though that it was for the first 500 miles.
Then I parked it at Sams and came out 30 minutes later and a bunch of warning lights cames on. ... POP .. all of a sudden and without a warning.
It was on a Saturday afternoon and I called the dealer and took it in 30 minutes later.
The dealer immediately took it to the back and put a computer on it and came up with weird codes. They could not talk to the "Toyota Tech Helpline" since that line was closed on Saturday afternoon.
I left the dealer and drove it home (11 miles) and it continued to do more weird stuff ... not going into 5th or 6th. Several warning lights stayed on. Took it home and parked it.
Later, after vacation, took it back to dealer and it was getting worst on that 11 mile trip to dealer. Still doing all of the above plus shuddering and slipping some now.
Got it to the dealer .. they "coded it" and talked to Toyota and said it needed a new Transmission. They did all this in 30 mins and I am not sure if they even drove it. Maybe they did when I was not looking.
That was on a Thursday and the next Monday night it was ready. The tech drove it home on Monday night and I picked it up on Tuesday morning.
The new transmission still does a few unusal things ... seems to slip/slide into 1st, and 2nd sometimes .. but not all the time. Also feels like a small slip ... but need to hear and experience it more.
I have only about 300 miles on new tranny and am still checking it out.
I am very astute to sounds and feel of a machine (used to race for fun and fly fixed wing a/c and helos) and I could always "FEEL PROBLEMS" in the equipment.
As a matter of fact .. when I first drove the Tundra off the dealer lot ... I felt that the trans was acting funny ... but I did not know how the 6 spd. was supposed to act at that point.
Just keep trying to "FEEL IT" and if you have concerns .. take it back.
I know you will be able to feel things that the dealer may or may not find .. that can be a problem.
But with their new test computers and the memory in your on board computer .. they can find out a lot real fast ... without even driving it.
Good luck,
SOS
